Stairs near Campo S. Toma

Stairs near Campo S. Toma'

I was following my Venetian wife on a shopping expedition in Venice near the Campo S. Toma’ and pased by an open door which revealed the above scene.

The average tourist in Venice is overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the Rialto, Piazza San Marco and all of the tiny alleyways filled with people. What they don’t see are the calm spaces behind the doors and windows of Venetian houses. These courtyards and gardens are what makes Venice such a special place to live.
